- Abstract
The article reviews the diagnostic strategies and management of common pulmonary complications of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). It stated that respiratory diseases are an important cause of morbidity and mortality in HIV-infected individuals. HIV is transmitted within blood or genital secretions, and cannot infect by inhalation. Host cell infection occurs via the binding of the virus to CD4 receptors, most commonly on T-helper lymphocytes.
