- Abstract
The article discusses the national victim survey which examines the development of crime rate in Manenberg in South Africa. The survey reveals that gangs still have hold in the community due to belief that police take protection money from gangsters and other doubt police's ability to protect witnesses in a murder trial. Also mentioned is the public knowledge about the rampant drug selling and the negative perception about police role in handling crime cases and crime prevention to clean the entire community for better living.
