- Abstract
The article presents information on serum hepcidin levels and stroke in thalassemia patients. It says that beta-thalassemia is a genetic disorder that is caused by a lessened or total absence of synthesis of β-globin chain in a molecule of hemoglobin. It adds that there is a higher incidence of pulmonary hypertension and thrombosis in patients with thalassemia intermedia.
