- Title
Primal Weaving: Structure and Meaning in Language and Architecture.
- Authors
Parry, Jason Rhys
- Abstract
The article presents a drama between two modes of structured meaning in order to explore the relationship between language and architecture. It references the work of French philosopher Charles Batteux to analyze the linguistic analogies in architecture and linguistics. The hostile relationship between writing and architecture is discussed, as well as the challenge posed by architecture to a concept of literacy that neglects the built environment's legibility.
