- Abstract
The article critiques the film "Django Unchained," a slave narrative directed by Quentin Tarantino which explores the suffering of the slave as well as the slave's revenge. Topics discussed include the fusion of two film genres including Spaghetti-Western and Blaxploitation in the film, the anachronistic reference to the north which supported the anti-slavery cause in the U.S., the binary portrayal of violence in the film, and the injustice and cruelty meted out to black slaves by whites.
