- Abstract
The article compares the historical growth of short stories of Tamil and Telugu in India. It notes that the introduction of prose as the major medium to express thoughts has changed the Indian literary scene. The year 1933 was said to be the golden period for Tamil short stories as young creative writers are encouraged and they are considered to be more important in this period. It also cites the success of the Manikodi writers in making short story a major literary genre in Tamil.
