- Abstract
The article focuses on the structure and sequence analysis of bacterial porins and specific diffusion channels for hydrophilic molecules. It offers information related to eight subclass of the porins, based on structure, function and multimeric state. It mentions that class 1A is composed of the smallest porins which are non-specific and include the OmpA porins which are abundant multifunctional porins involved in host evasion, binding to receptors and having nonspecific pore activity.
