Dr. King's Words on Vietnam Still Ring True for Gaza.
- Authors
MOSS, ANDREW
- Abstract
This article discusses the ongoing assault by Israeli troops in Rafah, Gaza, and draws parallels to Dr. Martin Luther King's words on the Vietnam War. King argued that the war in Vietnam was hindering progress towards economic and racial justice in the United States and highlighted the disproportionate impact on poor American youth. The article also criticizes Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for opposing a two-state solution and failing to lay out a post-conflict plan for governance in Gaza. It highlights the expansion of Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem as further exacerbating tensions. The Biden administration's support for Israel during the conflict is also criticized, with concerns raised about the bombing of civilian buildings and the use of US weapons inconsistent with international law. The article concludes by emphasizing the importance of human rights and the potential consequences of ignoring or suppressing them.
