- Title
Hybridization in East African swarm-raiding army ants.
- Abstract
The article presents a research on hybridization in East African swarm-raiding army ants species Dorylus molestus and D. wilverthi using morphology, mitochondrial DNA sequences, and nuclear microsatellites. Results showed that in studied ants mitochondrial phylogeny had a strong geographic signal, but different species were not monophyletic, which can be explained by introgression following hybridization. The study shows hybridization and gene-flow between the two army ant species.
