- Title
Clinical Manifestation of Degos Disease: Painful Penile Ulcers.
- Authors
Minzenmayer, Andrew Neal; Fiala, Katherine
- Abstract
This article provides information on a rare condition called Degos disease, which affects the small blood vessels. The case discussed involves a patient who had a red scaly rash on the trunk and recurrent painful ulcers on the penis. The initial biopsy suggested a connective tissue disease, but subsequent biopsies confirmed the diagnosis of Degos disease. Treatment options are limited, but antithrombotics and medications that improve blood flow can be used. The article also highlights the importance of recognizing the changing histopathology of Degos disease and mentions the uncommon occurrence of penile ulceration.
