- Abstract
The article discusses the importance of focusing on school readiness in early childhood education and care for infants and toddlers under the age of three. The development of infants and toddlers' brains is described, and foundations for language, cognition, and social-emotional development that are established during infancy are discussed. Methods for encouraging curiosity, attention, and memory are highlighted, and special attention is paid to infants and toddlers' behavior and development related to information gathering, problem solving, and persistence through frustration.
