- Abstract
The article focuses on the policies of U.S. President Barack Obama and the 111th U.S. Congress to promote quality and affordable early childhood education. During his election campaign, Obama had presented a detailed plan for early childhood education policy and funding at the federal level. It is expected that the economic recovery package of the U.S. Congress will include funding for child care along with unemployment insurance. An affordable high quality early childhood education is considered to be highly necessary for the working class families. Economists believe that investment in high quality early childhood education programs yields economic benefits for everyone, as it gives the children the foundation for their future.
