- Title
How plants transformed rivers.
- Authors
Faden, Mike
- Abstract
The article discusses how terrestrial landscapes were transformed by plants, considering the creation of meandering rivers and floodplains. It says that plant roots' stabilizing effect has something to do with the river channels development. It adds that one of the Dalhousie University researchers, who studied the ancient river sediment deposits, said that a wider variety of forms can be made, such as meandering rivers and floodplains, when plants were binding and baffling the river sediments.
