- Abstract
The article discusses the Equal Rights Amendments (ERA) that provides women with equal rights proposed by National Women's Party founder Alice Paul in 1923 but recently ratified on June 30, 1982 in 35 U.S. states. It notes that the proposed amendments for the Fourteenth Amendment intends to protect women to receive legal protections linked to sex. An overview of the implementation of the Fourteenth Amendment in 1868 that provide the citizenship of the freed slaves is offered.
