The article cites a study which investigates the modifications to the roads in Yosemite Valley, California during the period 1913-1966, attempting to determine the effect of the automobile on one aspect of the cultural landscape. In 1913, the roads in the area were poor, however, the roads undergone several modifications after regular automobile use started. When automobile entered the Valley in 1913, around five miles of auxiliary roads were to be found.
