- Abstract
The article discusses extraterritorial lockouts in sports and the Alberta Labour Relations Board's reported error in declining to assert jurisdiction over the National Hockey League (NHL) during the 2012-2013 NHL lockout. According to the article, the NHL lockout resulted in monetary losses for restaurants, bars, and other businesses which operate near NHL arenas in the U.S. and Canada. The NHL Players' Association and a strike by players are examined.
