- Abstract
The article offers poetry criticism of the narrative poem "The Ring and the Book" by Robert Browning. Particular focus is given to Browning's depictions of the relationship between the private and public spheres of society through the female character Pompilia as well as speeches given by the lawyer characters. The theme of distraction is explored along with a discussion on the personality of the characters.
