- Authors
JOHNSON, STEPHANIE L.
- Abstract
The article presents a critique of the religious poems of Christina Rossetti, particularly how she interprets the Bible's Book of Revelation and the figure of the Whore of Babylon. Rossetti wrote about her beliefs in the book "The Face of the Deep: A Devotional Commentary on the Apocalypse" (1892). The symbolism in the Bible and in Rossetti's poems is analyzed, particularly Rossetti's apocalyptic poetry.
