- Abstract
The essay discusses the 1895 book "A London Garland," an anthology of poems and pictures, edited by W.E. Henley. It examines the relation between the poetry included and the pictures which accompany specific poems. Different views of the city of London, England, are discussed. Poems examined include those by Geoffrey Chaucer, Edmund Spenser, and William Blake. The diverse styles of the illustrations chosen are discussed, including those by Walter Crane, Alice Woodward and Enoch Ward.
