The article presents an analysis of the poem "The Two Voices," by Alfred Tennyson, the poet's conceptions of mind and body, and its connection to the psychological theories of Herbert Spencer. Details are given citing the partial appropriation of the poem by Spencer in regards to promoting his theory of psychology along with discussion of the full extent of Tennyson's psychological themes within the work.
