- Abstract
The article suggests adopting evidence-based practices to meet the needs of English learners (ELs)with mathematics difficulties (MD). It mentions factors that influence the barriers that ELs with MD face in developing the procedural knowledge such as acquiring proficiency in both English and the language of mathematics; and lack of systematic and explicit mathematics instruction. It cites research on effective teaching practices for preventing MD among ELs.
