- Abstract
The article presents the feminist analysis of Tractate Peah in the Mishnah, Tosefta, and Jerusalem Talmud, which reveals a systematic process of silencing where the widow, a key biblical recipient of charity, is gradually excluded from this status in rabbinic literature. It mentions that women without families, typically classified as generically poor in other texts, lose this designation in rabbinic law, and are marginalized, often becoming mere objects of charity themselves.
