- Abstract
This article presents an examination into the life and writings of Jorge Semprun, focusing on the impact of his imprisonment at the Nazi German Buchenwald concentration camp and his place within intellectual culture. Details are given noting the ways in which Semprun struggled to express his experiences in the camp through literature. Exploration into Semprun's personal sense of identity and close association with intellectualism and literary culture is also described.
