- Abstract
Sphere-like dysprosium vanadate (DyVO) nanoparticles have been synthesized by a large scale and simple co-precipitation method. Different surfactants such as cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), polyethylene glycol (PEG), and sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS) were applied in the presence of dysprosium nitrate hexahydrate and ammonium metavanadate to prepare DyVO nanoparticles. The photocatalytic activity of DyVO nanoparticles was evaluated by the degradation of methyl orange (MeO) in aqueous solution under UV light irradiation. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis demonstrated nanoparticles DyVO with an average diameter of about 20-80 nm. As-prepared DyVO nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction measurements (XRD), energy dispersive analysis of X-rays (EDAX), and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-Vis).
