- Abstract
The article examines the medicalization of sunlight in the early 20th century, highlighting a poetics of sunlight therapy in different literary texts. The history of the therapeutic use of sunlight is explored which started in the 19th century to treat rickets. Also analyzed are the factors that contributed to the popularity of therapeutic sunbathing, the impact of sunlight on human emotions, and the poetics of sunlight therapy novelists D. H. Lawrence and Katherine Mansfield.
