- Abstract
The phenomenon of cyberbullying in teenagers is increasing. Cyberbullying does not only happen to teenagers in big cities but also in areas such as Purwokerto. To anticipate or minimize the occurrence of cyberbullying in the region, a team of lecturer and students of the Communication Studies held community service activities through Amikom Mitra Masyarakat (AMM) at SMK Tujuh Lima 1 Purwokerto. The method of implementing the service starts from a preliminary survey by observing the cyberbullying phenomenon, formulating problems and goals of service in the form of workshops, preparing workshop materials, conducting workshops, conducting evaluations, writing a report, and writing an article for mass media as well as relevant journal. This workshop was carried out by delivering material interactively and involving more participants who were representatives of each class. The participants are expected to be role models and can assist students who do not attend the workshop. The facilitators invite workshop participants to share their experiences and knowledge, do role play using social media, and formulate solutions to prevent cyberbullying. The results of this community service show an increase in the participants' understanding of the culture and ethics of digital communication in preventing cyberbullying. This community service is expected to be a starting point for creating a cyberbullying-free school environment and in turn students feel more comfortable and safe in learning activities.
