- Title
B cells: Bad for the heart?
- Authors
Leavy, Olive
- Abstract
The article discusses a research on the effect of mature B cells depletion to the heart. It references the study "B cell depletion reduces the development of atherosclerosis in mice," by H. Ait-Oufella and colleagues in the July 5, 2010 issue of "Journal of Experimental Medicine." It states that the use of CD20-specific antibodies in the depletion of matured B cell could increase the risk of cardiovascular disease such as atherosclerosis through T cell activation and cytokine production.
