- Authors
BEAUDET, MARIE-ANDRÉE
- Abstract
Gilles Marcotte was one of the most loyal and demanding travel companions of Québec literature of the second half of the 20th century, but he also, and very early on, focused his interest on the history of this young literature. He frequently explored the literary production of the previous century, though not without considerable reservations, reservations that eased significantly upon numerous re-readings and the passage of time. Gilles Marcotte's 19th century was one of poverty and literary ambitions offered up to be read, to write or rewrite, based on several notable figures such as Octave Crémazie and François-Xavier Garneau.
