- Title
Electronic Medical Records: Oncology Practices Take the Plunge.
- Authors
Hede, Karyn
- Abstract
The article offers information on oncology practices' venture in the electronic medical record (EMR) prompted by the $36 billion in federal stimulus package incentives. It states that the incentives come as extra Medicare or Medicaid payments and will be available from 2011 to 2014. It cites a survey of the National Hospital Association members which shows that less than 2% of U.S. hospitals employ a hospital-wide EMR system. Challenges in implementing the EMR system are also discussed.
