Urban Renewal and the Story of Berman v. Parker.
- Authors
Lavine, Amy
- Abstract
The article discusses several issues related to urban renewal policy of Washington D.C. with particular reference to the Berman v. Parker Supreme Court case. As stated, urban renewal had huge social impacts as the lower classes were moved out of center cities to provide space for uses that would produce high tax revenues. It discusses how Supreme Court's decision in the case which allowed continuation of urban renewal projects across the country showed its extreme deference to public welfare.
