- Abstract
The article examines the value of amenity in influencing historic preservation and improving lives. Definition of the nature of amenity as referring to both tangible utility and intangibles that are considered pleasant are explained. Efforts of groups to protect the environment and maintain social values while still adapting to needed change such as use of technology and urban development are the challenges encountered in the pursuit of having amenities in life. It states that a major drawback is that amenity cannot be equitably distributed.
