- Authors
CAPDEVILA‐WERNING, REMEI
- Abstract
The article discusses the perspectives of philosopher Nelson Goodman on the action of quotation and questions the ability of buildings and architecture forms in quoting. The author examines Goodman's account of verbal, pictorial, and musical quotation and compares Goodman's notion of the act of notation with aspects of architectural quotation. Architectural quotation is described as a building's reference to another work of architecture or the containment of a building within a building. The author then presents an analysis of the uses and meanings of quotations, drawing on the perspectives of Goodman.
