- Abstract
Increasing population, developing industry, and technology lead to increase the demand for energy day by day. However, the factors, such as global warming, climate change, and sustainability are shifting attention to renewable energy. But, the desired flexibility for power grids can't be provided because of the irregular production regimes of renewable energy systems. As a solution to this problem, the idea of energy storage facilities has emerged. In this study, real electricity consumption values of a university campus were examined for one-year period, electricity production and consumption values in case of installing a photovoltaic solar energy system (PV) with energy storage on the roof of the university building were analyzed, and the improvements on the load profile were evaluated with the energy storage system by peak shaving. The university's daily, weekly, monthly, and annual energy production-consumption values, the changes in the electricity production and consumption profiles in the winter and summer seasons were studied detailedly. Also, the contribution to the power grid with the peak shaving and renewable energy production were handled with the environment and economic impacts.
