- Abstract
The article discusses a study on whether circulating leptin and cardiovascular and inflammatory responses are associated with acute psychological stress in humans. The adipocyte hormone leptin is believed to play a role in the association between obesity and an elevated risk of hypertension and cardiovascular disease. Findings indicate the possibility for leptin to mediate the adverse effects of stress and obesity on women's cardiovascular health.
