- Abstract
It also sets up the idea that the multiple spheres of influence in an ecological model can be conceptualized as networks of contingencies that not only affect the behavior of each individual but that are also established by the individual behaviors and interlocking behaviors among the members that participate in and are part of each sphere of influence. Nevertheless, the way in which behavior scientists teach, talk about, introduce, and approach our subject matter - behavior-environment relations - may be creating barriers for many current and aspiring behavior scientists to explore behavior as it occurs in its social environments and socio-ecological systems. An important theme emerges throughout the collection: behavior and culturo-behavior scientists must consider behavior as it occurs in its social environment (i.e., social behavior; Skinner, [17]).
