- Abstract
One can say that the idea of political mimesis starts with the body: indeed it is about a relationship between the image of our body in two locations, in the present and in the future, and it is about what the one in the future makes the other in the present do. Starting from this image, this paper aims at closely examining the relationship between mimesis and politics from a philosophical perspective: going from the origin of the two terms as opposition, this research investigates the use of mimetic strategies in modern politics and the conception of progress within mimetic processes. Mimesis is underlined not only as an adequate response to any form of political imperative, but rather appears as the very human process through which man explores the philosophical category of the possible.
