- Abstract
The article reports a novel begomovirus with distinct genomic and phenotypic features infecting tomato in Bangladesh. In September 2003, diseased tomato plants were gathered because they showed mild Tomato leaf curl virus disease symptoms of yellowing and leaf curling. A monopartite begomovirus, designed Tomato leaf curl Joydebpur virus-Mild (ToLCJV-Mld), was found linked with these mild symptoms. ToLCJV-Mld was most similar to Pepper leaf curl Bangladesh virus. The number and arrangement of ToLCJV-Mld DNA-A open reading frames was identical to monopartite begomoviruses.
