- Authors
Ford, Randy
- Abstract
The article refers to a report by Forrester Research and the Institute for Supply Chain Management and focuses on corporate e-procurement systems. Challenges in electronic purchasing functions that chief financial officers must manage include: selecting electronic commerce software that can be integrated with existing enterprise resource systems; allocating resources for e-purchasing software programs that have license and support costs; providing value for suppliers in terms of rapid payment and automation of purchase orders in their preferred format; and analyzing the payment mechanism to determine its capability for servicing multiple suppliers. Online application service providers are mentioned as an alternative to buying software.
