- Abstract
This article discusses the surgical management of gut malrotation in an adult patient. Gut malrotation refers to congenital abnormalities in which the midgut fails to rotate properly during fetal development. The prevalence of gut malrotation in adults is still unknown, but it is often unrecognized due to nonspecific symptoms. The gold standard for diagnosis is a contrast-enhanced CT scan. The article introduces Kareem's procedure as an alternative surgical treatment for gut malrotation, which involves rotating the duodenum and placing the caecum and right colon in their proper positions. The article includes a video vignette of a patient who underwent Kareem's procedure successfully. The study was conducted without any funding and there were no conflicts of interest.
