- Authors
GUNĂ, Dan-Alexandru
- Abstract
The article addresses Romania’s vision regarding a fundamental concept of environmental law, namely sustainable development, a concept that is the object of concern of the UN and the European Union. As such, it was natural for our country, an active member of the two organizations, to align its legislation with these changes in international approach. The concept of sustainable development is not new for environmental law, but the phenomenon of climate change has required adaptation to new realities because it is one of the biggest challenges of our era and its negative impact undermines the ability of all countries to achieve sustainable development. The Romanian strategy regarding sustainable development takes into account contemporary changes, evolving from the achievement of strictly economic objectives, in accordance with European rigors, to a global approach in accordance with the UN philosophy expressed by the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.
