Publications in Queer Theory and Sexualities covered in this chapter are from the year 2008, incorporating 2007. This year’s review is divided as follows: 1. History and Sexuality: books in this section present new histories of sexuality: Orgasm and the West: A History of Pleasure from the Sixteenth Century to the Present and Feeling Backward: Loss and the Politics of Queer History, which queries a liberationist queer history; 2. Queer-Race Intersections: these books examine the relationships between queer, race, racialization, and nation in representation, public discussion and history: Terrorist Assemblages: Homonormativity in Queer Times, Out of Place: Interrogating Silences in Queerness/Raciality and Queer Attachments: The Cultural Politics of Shame; 3. Queer in Global Contexts reviews edited collections exploring queer identities, representation and politics in Poland, the Caribbean and South Asia; 4. Humans and the ‘Anti-Social’ explores queer disruptions to ‘the human’, trans-bodies, religion, and the terms of queer debate.
