- Abstract
The aim of this study was to look into the awareness of young adults in Dublin, Ireland. A survey was circulated via social media outlets to young adults in Dublin, Ireland. Fisher exact tests were used to determine whether there was a difference in categorical questions between age groups (under and over 20 years old) and gender groups (males and females). ANOVA procedures compared the average number of correct answers between the subgroups. A total of 15 young adults consented and completed the study. 53% were knowledgeable about the disease, much greater than the 27% who believed they were knowledgeable and also the 7% who had a family member affected by the disease. Educational programs should be setup to increase the awareness of the disease, as there is still room for improvement.
