- Abstract
Μάγειρος slaughtered the pigs and cooked food for the high-ranking statesmen, wealthy people, and the common individuals. He lived in Egypt during the Ptolemaic and Roman eras. Because of his importance, connection, and participation in the daily life of Egyptian society, there is much and varied information about him in the documents, allowing the author to study the mageiros in Egypt during the two eras. The study deals with this subject through the various classifications of mageiros: the first category focuses on the mageiros found in royal palaces, wealthy people's homes, and other places of authority. The second group concerns outdoor mageiros for ordinary people in the public markets, and as a final point the private mageiros. The study will also highlight each category's economic and social life. Thereafter a table showing the mageiros in the Papyri and Ostraca is enclosed. Finally, a conclusion displaying the results of the study is presented.
