- Abstract
The article presents information on the legal prohibition against trading with enemies in Great Britain and the related damage in commerce during the Napoleonic Era. The emergence of British license system for overriding the legal prohibitions by the European nations is discussed. The marine insurance policies, the use of simulated papers for protecting alien neutrals and the related case laws of the eighteenth century are also discussed.
