- Abstract
The article presents research notes profiling the Jewish American Baer family of Sonora, California, taken from an interview with Julius Baer. Details are given outlining the life of the family patriarch Meyer Baer who immigrated from Germany in 1851, citing his work in the clothing industry and role as a lay rabbi in the local Jewish community. Accounts are given regarding many of the Baer family, including that of the interviewee, Henrietta Fisher, and Leon Baer. The continuation of the Baer family clothing store by the interviewee is mentioned, along with accounts of his children and grandchildren in the area.
