- Abstract
The article highlights the diamond jubilee anniversary of the consecration of Temple B'Nai Israel, the first synagogue building in the west on September 2, 1927 in Sacramento, California. The list of the earliest Jewish immigrants who lived in the state in 1850 is provided. The history of the first store buildings as well as Jewish services are discussed. Religious exercises and address delivered by Joseph Shannon during the first consecration of the building are included. Speakers during the anniversary are presented including Albert Elkus and Peter Shields.
