- Abstract
The article presents the memoir of Moses Bruml, a merchant from Lockeford, Stockton in California. It was written in 1900, a year before Bruml died. The memoir chronicled events in Bruml's life including his birth in the city of Drosau in Europe, his stay in Vienna, Austria where he retraced his steps, the journey to America in 1849, and his work experiences in Buffalo, New York. Bruml also shared his life in St. Louis, Missouri where he worked as a peddler, and the trip to San Francisco, California aboard a Vanderbilt steamer. He married Lena Levinsky in Sacramento and moved to Lockeford where he remained ever since.
