- Title
Devon lemons: the micro‐climate of South Devon and citrus fruit cultivation.

- Abstract
Sheltered by Dartmoor from the prevailing southwesterly winds and sitting in the part of the United Kingdom closest to the Azores high in summer, South Devon has often been referred to as the "English Riviera" due to its milder and sunnier climate compared to other parts of the country. I have always liked citrus: nothing can beat the aroma of a flowering citrus grove in the summer, and of course they give us delicious fruits as well (apparently, I ate whole lemons as a child). Lemon trees produce lovely, white, fragrant flowers that may appear all year round, but more profusely during late winter, and the fruit ripens in around 9-12 months (so trees may be in flower and fruit at the same time).
