- Abstract
The aim of this work was to investigate the influence of vegetable fibres fabrics pre-tension on composite dimensional changes and their strain distribution during relaxation. During the experiment the contraction pattern and strain distribution was investigated using adapted image analysis technique. The pre-tension of natural fiber yarns has shown to be an effective method to increase the tensile and flexural strength of biocomposite. However, the increase of pre-tension strain increases the dimensional changes of composite during relaxation, because of fabric generated compressive force that seeks to contract to its unstretched state. Nevertheless, due to pre-tension the higher strain distribution uniformity and higher structural stability of biocomposite is obtained.
