- Abstract
The article describes the use of digital technologies in orthodontics, particularly the fully digital workflow for the production of an expansion plate. By using intraoral scans and 3D printers, traditional steps can be skipped or digitized. Digital orthodontics enables new approaches in the production of removable appliances, using digital impressions and dental software programs. The article emphasizes the advantages of the digital workflow, such as time savings and customized appliances, but also highlights critical aspects such as the retention and risk of breakage of plastic elements. The authors believe that the future of orthodontics lies in the digital workflow.
